Poet and Peasant Overture (Von Suppe) Pryor’s Band 10
Poet and Peasant Overture (Suppe) Sousa’s Band
Poet and Peasant Has been heard more often than any other composition of its class, with the possible exception of the Tannhauser and William Tell Overtures; and the three are often spoken of as the “model over¬ tures.” These records are among the finest in the entire band list.
Poland — Patriotic Song ( Jeszeze Polska) Sousa’s Band
Prince of Pilsen Selection (Luders) Pryor’s Band
Queen of Sheba March (Gounod) Sousa’s Band
Radetzky March (Strauss) Pryor’s Band
One of the most famous of the Strauss marches, and a great favorite not only in Germany but with military bands the world over.
Rakoczy March Pryor’s Band
This famous march means to Hungarians all that the Marseillaise does to Frenchmen. It is a fierce, wild march, with power to stir the blood such as few others possess.
Razazza Mazzazza — Two-step (Pryor) Pryor’s Band
Pryor has written many famous ragtime numbers, but his Razazza remains the “ king of rags.”
Red Mill March (Herbert) Pryor’s Band
Red Mill Selection (Herbert) Pryor’s Band
“ Red Wing ” Medley Pryor’s Band
“ Much Obliged to You” — “Red Wing” — “ Sweetheart Days” and "I’m Afraid to Come Home in the Dark.”
Reed Bird (The Indian’s Bride ) (Reed) Pryor’s Band
One of Dave Reed, Jr.’s, best numbers. It is written in the Indian style, and has some fine descriptive effects. One of the melodies in particular is quite fascinating.
Reminiscences of all Nations (Godfrey) Pryor’s Band
A medley of national airs, introducing “Die Wacht am Rhein” — “St. Patrick’s Day” — “ Marseillaise ” — “Russian Melody” and “Yankee Doodle.”
Rhapsodie Hongroise ( See Hungarian Rhapsody )
Rigoletto — Quartet (Verdi) Pryor’s Band
This famous quartet is perhaps the most popular of the many fine con¬ certed numbers composed by Verdi. Mr. Pryor, yielding the baton to Mr. Rogers, has played the solo trombone himself, and his sympathetic tone adds greatly to the beauty of the record.
Rosamunde Overture (Schubert) Pryor’s Band
The best parts of the overture are now presented on one twelve-inch disc. This is one of the most effective and perfectly balanced records on the Victor list.
Rose of Schiras Waltz (Valse Rosen) (Eilenberg) Sousa’s Band This record of Eilenberg’s charming waltz will not only form a most attractive number on any concert programme, but can be used for dancing, as it is in strict waltz time.
Russian National Anthem (Russian Hymn) Pryor’s Band
Salute to Mexico March (Brooke) U. S. Marine Band
Second Connecticut March (Reeves) Pryor’s Band
This rousing march of the late D. W. Reeves continues to hold its own.
An especially favorite portion is the fine melody given to the basses in the trio.
