Chopin Comedian’s March Smetana Smetana’s ‘‘ Bartered Bride’’ has won himmuch fame, and is full of striking numbers, foremost among which is this odd ci Komedianti ’’ or Comedian’s March. Coronation March Le Prophéte Meyerbeer This great symphonic march is by far the most striking instrumental number in Meyerbeer’s opera. It is brilliant and powerful, with superb instrumentation, and even without the dramatic setting in which it is played in Prophéte, always produces a marked effect on the listener. Cupid’s Garden Intermezzo Eugene ‘* Darkies’ Spring Song’’ March One of the merriest and most infectious ragtime marches which we have ever heard—and no owner of a Victor needs to be told how Pryor’s Band plays a number of this kind. Das Modell Overture Suppé One of the favorite overtures of this immensely popular German composer (1820-1895). ‘‘Das Modell’? possesses many of the Von Suppé characteristics—an extremely brilliant introduction followed by a reposeful melody in delightful contrast. A shorv passage for bells gives way to a martial strain with drum effects, and the last movement is quite vigorous and effective, with a fine passage for the basses. Distant Greetings March Doring This beautiful melody is played a trifle slower than usual, and the record is a superb and thoroughly musical one. Dixie Our Southern friends will have no monopoly of this record, as Dixie is just as popular at the North, and with good reason, as it is certainly the merriest, jolliest, and most infectious air imaginable. Dixie Fantasia Langey An interesting treatment of this famous and ever popular melody, which is presented with many novel instrumental changes. Those who like to hear Dixie’’ given in simple fashion without variations will perhaps prefer No. 4350. Ecuador—National Hymn Salve, O Patria. Entry of the Gladiators—March A magnificent march which is finely played by the band. In the second strain occurs a splendid solo for the basses which rolls out with tremendous yolume. Espana Waltz Waldteufel Fackeltanz Torchlight Dance Meyerbeer The Fackeltanz, or dance with flambeaux, is a survival of medieval times, and is often a feature of court weddings in Germany. This number is the finest of the series and is a splendid composition. Particularly impressive is a magnificent solo for the basses, which is a fine piece of recording. Festival Overture : Leutner Flora Twilight Serenade (with bell solo ) Mehden Forza del] Destino Overture ( Force of Destiny ) Verdi Interest in this Verdi opera has been revived by the beautiful Caruso-Scotti duet; and seyeral additional numbers from this work may be issued in future. The overture, a very fine one, is now offered, and the record will be found to be a splendid and weli-balanced one._ SIZE 12 10 12 10 10 12 10 10 10 10 10 +
