88 MALE QUARTETS NUMBER 5601 5650 656 4396 31408 5707 5331 5697 5615 2512 5611 5525 4345 31492 4337 5168 By Haydn Quartet with orchestra Always Me Harris A pathetic ballad which tells of a little one who is continually blamed for faults she does not commit. Miss Jones’ clear voice is well suited to the childish complaint, and the pretty melody is repeated by the quartet in a most effective manner. Brown Eyes, Good Bye Reed-Christie The newest march ballad, which tells of a sailor lad who leaves his weeping sweetheart béhind when he sails away. We are pleased to note, however, that Mr. Reed does not kill the hero in the second verse, as usual, but ends the ballad in quite a happy manner. Carry Me Back to Old Virginny Dearie \ Solo by Miss Morgan, with Kummer Dearie quartet chorus Kummer Dear Old Dear Burt-Lampe Popular ballads of the sentimental order by the Haydn Quartet are still among the best liked features of the Victor catalogue—the care with which these numbers being arranged and sung making them highly attractive. This record of the new Burt-Lampe ballad is fully up to the VictorHaydn high standard. Down in the Old Cherry Orchard Henry The latest rustic ballad, and a good one, as we have aright to expect from the hands of this experienced writer. Good Luck, Mary Piantadosi The latest ballad oe the composer of ‘* My Mariuccia,” and an attractive little song of its kind; presented in the form which has made the Macdonough-Haydn records so popular. " ‘ ‘* Funiculi Funicula’’ (A Merry Heart) | Denza Although written as late as 1880, this song has become so extremely popular in Italy that it is classed with the folksongs of that nation. It was written by Luigi Denza, the wellknown composer of concert songs, and the original words celebrated the opening of the funicular railway to the summit of Vesuvius. Heidelberg Prince of Pilsen Solo by Macdonough Here’s to the Girl From Girls of Gottenberg Anderson I Lost My Heart When I Saw Your Eyes Helf-Hager A charming love ballad. The verse and chorus are sung by Mr. Macdonough, and the quartet follows in a fine harmonization of Mr. Hager’s pretty melody. In the Evening by the Moonlight Bland A favorite plantation ballad, of which a fine arrangement has been made for the Haydn, with solo, duet and quartet. Inthe Golden Autumn Time, My Sweet Elaine A ballad success by the writers of ‘‘ The Harvest Moon.”’ The duet and quartet arrangement is quite attractive. In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree Solo by Macdonough—quartet chorus In the. Wildwood Where the Blue Bells Grew SIZE 10 10 16 10 2 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 be 10 10 gear
