Ballyhoo (1952-61) was published by Famous Players Canadian Corporation as a mimeographed internal sales and theatre managers’ newsletter. Editor, Dan Krendel, had been division manager of the Ontario ‘B’ District since 1942, and initially created Ballyhoo in 1952 to circulate weekly updates for a regional sales contest. Ontario ‘B’ District Ballyhoo continued until 1955 as a tool for sharing and incentivizing new sales techniques and publicity methods as the movie business declined in the face of television and the baby boom.

In Fall 1955, Profit Blitz for ‘Fitz’ was a nationwide sales contest, named for Famous Players’ president J. J. Fitzgibbons, honouring his 25th year as head of the business. Dan Krendel was made National Drive Captain and edited a weekly newsletter for the campaign.

From 1956 until at least 1957, National Ballyhoo was published weekly with Krendel as editor. He continued the style and content developed earlier for his Ontario ‘B’ District, but now extended vastly for a chain-wide coast to coast scale. Ballyhoo’s sharing promotional tools came at a time of contracting box office as television and automobile ownership became prevalent in the mid-1950s.

By 1960 until at least 1961, Time Out for Ticket Talk continued as a mimeographed newsletter, edited by Norman Barker of the head office publicity department. Time Out was compiled on a less ambitious scale than Ballyhoo. Compared to the earlier national compilation of local publicity gimmicks, Time Out often contained only a single memo or reproduced local story, and was often undated and only informally edited.

The Mystery Personality contest still running, with the radio station centributing much free time to the Regents current attractions oo. Displays at both the Metropolitan store lunch counters, and the Genosha Hotel, CAP TTOL © WELLAND George reports that he received excellent co-operation from Press, Radio and Board of Education on his Pinocchio cartoonist!s tour. Ek see two tear sheets, as evidence, cach with an excellent three columm pic of Niek George entertaining separate groups of school ehiidren ..o. and that's really something for the Tribune. An interview was taped in the theatre, and later aired ate a peak listening time, over G HV 6 .oo as a public service ooo That's what it says o.oo (7) A swell job George occ Forhan, I mean, and good practice for the next time you have to clout the Trib brags. ORPHEUM = soo Prime Carnere, former heavyweight champ happened te make an appearance in the Soo, and Olga made sure that when he was being interviewed over © J I G, the sports announcer asked him about his movie performance in CASAHOVA'S BIG NIGHT ... naturally, one thing led to another, and before he knew it, most of the time was used up in extolling the virtues of the pic coming to the Yrpheum ooo This was a real boxing week for Olga .o. Kleiman Broa, dressed a good boxing window, with gloves, shoes, shorts etco, plugging CITY OF BADMEN .o. The Orpheum sign carrisd copy of the famous 1898 world heavyweight fight between Gentleman Jim Corbett and Bob Fitzsimmons. The Soo Michigan radio station WSOO carried the Marciano-Charles fight on the opening day of GITY OF BADMEN ... and the announcer, a personal friend of Olga, gave the pic a big build up immediately before the fight got under Way o And that ain't bad oo. But how about the ROB ROY book?
