geet ONTARIO A ‘B’ | DISTRICT r : WV. Ae VOLUME 3 15 ¢NiiBER 25 My thanks to Hal Barnes, director of Advertising and blicity for Central States Theatres, whose bulletin dated August 3lst, loaded with good, thought-provoking logic, prompted this piece. The new season is here ... New product, new techniques, new selling approaches, and new problems. A bright new future beckons ... as every year at this time ... What we do with it must reflect the thought we put into our planning NOW ... at the very beginning of the season. NOW is a good time to think ... to analyze ourselves, to analyze our operation. BEFORE, not AFTER we've waded through the really terrific line-up of product the producers have promised, and delivered. NOW is the time to shake that accumulation of cobwebs out of our systems ... NOW, not when somebody starts swinging the big stick ... NOW is the time to think ... How we can improve our business, ourselves ... our own efficiency, and every single phase of our operation. NOW is the time to think ... How to get new customers oo. how to keep the old ones coming back ... How to attract the small | fry tomorrow's adult admissions into our theatres. NOW is the | time to think ... Is our advertising reaching all segments of our varied and multi-lingual population? ... Is there anything about our individual show-shops that is not completely inviting and pleasing? ... Is our relationship with our employees, all of them, everything it should be? | THINK ! Ministering to the comfort of audiences is just as important today as playing top product ... Do you PERSONALLY check your sound volumes ... picture definition ... house temperature ... deportment of personnel ... seating comfort, and cleanliness? NOW... today, not tomorrow, is the time to sit down and spend an hour or two in plain, old-fashioned thinking ... about yourself ... your job ... your future. Sit down in your favourite chair when you get home tonight ... relax, and JUST THINK. You'll be surprised at what you may come up with ... The yo worst that can happen is that you'll get up with a brand new approach to all your problems. The best, and that's what I wish for all of FOU oo Well, that is something ONLY YOU can determine. hr KEEP THINKIN' ... and BALLYHOOIN’. D.B.K.
