The film when thus tightly wound is very difficult to ignite even if held in a flame for a short time, whereas if it is loosely coiled up it will readily blaze. During a Primrose League meeting at Farnborough on the 7th ult., by some means or other the film used with the lantern ignited and the lantern became ablaze. A panic ensued, people got knocked down, and windows had to be broken in order to allow ' of a speedy egress.
