EXHIBITORS CASHING-IN ON MAE WEST. PUBLICITY BOOM. COUNTRY and suburban exhibitors are stampeding the Sydney office for early dates on Mae West’s “She Done Him Wrong”. The idea is apparently to cash in on the Mae West publicity whilst it is still hot in the daily press. Harry Fenton at the Civic Theatre, Newcastle, who screened the picture simultaneously to the Sydney Regent, worked a similar campaign as the one put over here, and enjoyed the same gratifying results. Several prints of the picture are being worked to capacity in satisfying the demands of country showmen who want the picture early. “She Done Him Wrong” has been booked for a city second run at both the Empire and Rialto Theatres on November 1 1 . NOW is the time to get after increased poster sales. Impress upon exhibitors the fact that you must sell the public where you find them — out of doors. We are well aware that during the summer months, much less time is spent indoors, and consequently less time is spent in reading newspapers. Now is the time that we should expect the maximum orders of posters from all showmen, who wish to not only retain their patrons, but to bring back those who have spent most of their time indoors during the winter months. The first pulls of our latest onecolour courier on “She Done Him Wrong” are to hand, and Hermann Flynn must be congratulated on the excellent design, copy and colour scheme. It is unquestionably our best one-colour courier to date, and when one takes into consideration the high quality of all previous onecolour couriers, this statement certainly means something. Samples are already on their way to the Sales Force, and we will certainly achieve phenomenal sales of this one. Excellent sales of “The Sign of the Cross” couriers are still a feature of all Ad. Sales orders. The total number of sales has now reached 573,000, which passes the record of 565,000 on “The Vanishing Race” and brings “The Sign of the Cross” to sixth position in the record courier sales. Country of origin — Australia. Wholly set up and printed by The Market Printery Ltd., 372a Pitt Street, Sydney. Published by l*aramount Film Service Limited, of Reservoir Street, Sydney.
