The leading Hollywood fan magazine of the 1920s and 1930s. Photoplay offered readers portraits of their favorite movie stars and stories about their personal lives. The magazine played an important promotional function for the Hollywood industry, but its editors and reviewers could also be highly critical of Hollywood. Beginning in 1921, Photoplay bestowed its annual 'Medal of Honor' for the film readers voted as the best of the year. -- Eric Hoyt, 2011.

Text recognition is never 100% accurate. Many parts of the scanned page may not be reflected in the OCR text output, including: images, page layout, certain fonts or handwriting.

First we cut out each page along the dotted line here at the edge. Then we follow the other dots and cut in half. SAL: Say, do you think it’d be a good idea to make the calendar more permanent? For backing, paste each half-page to stiff paper or cardboard. SARINA: Good idea. Then the next thing to do is to crease each half-page sharply down the middle, between the months. SAL: Ready for the ribbon yet? Here, you take it and sandwich it between each halfpage. I’ll get the glue and then we can glue each of the sides to the ribbon and to each other. SARINA: I told you it was easy. Let’s be sure to get the year straight, though — the first six months all on one side. SAL: Gee, hope the year’s as good as it looks!
