Welcomed to the security of the Greenes’ place deep in the Connecticut hills, Marilyn was safe — hidden away from people who demanded to know each heart-wrenching detail of her breakup with Joe DiMaggio. For the first time in a turbulent life, which has held both unusual hardship and outstanding success, Marilyn Monroe, in the undemanding privacy of a happy home, was able to enjoy the luxury of taking time out for her own relaxation.
