The leading Hollywood fan magazine of the 1920s and 1930s. Photoplay offered readers portraits of their favorite movie stars and stories about their personal lives. The magazine played an important promotional function for the Hollywood industry, but its editors and reviewers could also be highly critical of Hollywood. Kiam selected an Angora tweed in a shade of deep sand for Janet's second suit. The revers and collar of the singlebreasted jacket (which closes to the right, man-fashion) are of sable seal to match the perfectly elegant full-length topcoat— a coat which Kiam tells me is one of only two in existence. If you plan a new fur coat, this would be grand to have copied in Alaska sealskin, beaver or muskrat. The twogored skirt of the suit is joined to a matching blouse to fashion a one-piece dress. (The detail of the bottle-green inset stripes can be clearly seen in Kiam's sketch of the blouse) 63
