For fall Howard Greer sponsors a flared skirt in this surplice, collarless, draped-open sleeved black woolen coat designed for Ginger Rogers to wear in RKO's "Carefree," in which she costars with Fred Astaire. Greer belts and bands the sleeves with patent leather and uses the gold choker collar of the frock beneath to ornament the neckline. His sketch (above) pictures the sheer black woolen frock which has a circle skirt, high front waistline (the back drops to a low point) and zipper closing. The narrow appliqued stripings are of gilded kidskin Bette Davis (opposite page) wears a| fur and fabric model from her peri] wardrobe. The front panel and Pan collar are Russian caracul — the If of black woolen. A bloused, self-fi c belted back contrasts the slim front i ing. Bette's chic black tricorn is oil felt. The frock (sketched below) wassigned by Orry Kelly, famous Wan designer.
