Thanhouser joined the serial cycle with "The Million Dollar Mystery" starring Florence La Badie, James Cruze, who later became a famous director, and Marguerite Snow. Edison continued to release "series" pictures. Mary Fuller appeared in "Dolly of The Dailies." Andy Clark, a child actor, made an "Andy" series, while Ben Wilson, William Wadsworth, Marc MacDermott and Barry O'Moore (known on the stage as Herbert Yost) all appeared in their own series. The Universal popular players included Florence Lawrence, King Baggot, Edwin August, Pauline Bush, Frank Lloyd, Herbert Rawlinson, Margarita Fischer, Robert Leonard, Ethel Grandin, Irving Cummings, Wallace Reid, and their most popular star, J. Warren Kerrigan. Of this group, Cummings, Leonard and Lloyd all became famous as directors. Universale outstanding films included "Samson" with Kerrigan and "Neptune's Daughter" with Annette Kellermann. "The Spoilers," filmed in nine reels by Selig from Rex Beach's novel, was a landmark, and a fight scene between William Farnum and Thomas Santschi became film history. The cast also included Kathlyn Williams and Bessie Eyton. Famous Players was signing more stage stars including May Irwin, Henrietta Crosman and H. B. Warner.
