Also signed were Louise Fazenda and Minta Durfee. Margarita Fischer who was near the top of various popularity contests joined Mutual with her husband Harry Pollard. Harold Lockwood and May Allison were cast together in Mutual features and were acquiring many fans. Other Mutual players recognized as good drawing cards were Ed Coxen, Vivian Rich and William Garwood. Henry B. Walthall had left Mutual and D. W. Griffith for Essanay. Griffith himself withdrew from Mutual in May taking with him Lillian and Dorothy Gish. Wallace Reid and Thomas Meighan had signed with Lasky where they soon became important leading men.
