Universal was making serials with Marie Walcamp and Eddie Polo, and new stars on their payroll included Priscilla Dean, Monroe Salisbury and Edith Roberts. On the Triangle lot, Gloria Swanson was playing leads in dramatic pictures. Fox films were starring Theda Bara, William Farnum, June Caprice, George Walsh, Virginia Pearson and Tom Mix. Goldwyn's major stars continued to be Mae Marsh, Mabel Normand, and Madge Kennedy. Mary Garden made one more picture, but Jane Cowl and Maxine Elliott dropped out. Goldwyn signed Geraldine Farrar, Will Rogers, and starred Tom Moore. With Moore in "Thirty A Week," Tallulah Bankhead, a young Southern society belle, made her first professional appearance anywhere as leading lady. The first film Will Rogers ever appeared in was as the star of "Laughing Bill Hyde."
