Among the important continuity writers, strangely enough, women outranked the men. Frances Marion was probably greatest at this time. Jeanie Macpherson was Cecil B. De Mine's assistant and wrote "The Ten Commandments" script. June Mathis, Clara Beranger and Ouida Bergere were other top writers.
