W. Griffith, King Vidor and James Cruze. Among the comedians, Charles Chaplin, Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton were the most consistent laugh getters. The newcomers catching the public fancy included Norma Shearer, George O'Brien, Babv Peggy, Dorothy Mackaill, Mary Astor, and William Boyd who later became famous as Hopalong Cassidy.
