Here passions strike deep, and men are capaUe of enduring loves and great sacrifices. Again in scenes of luxury, the story tells of Arthur Phelps' great love for Rose. Arthur played by Conrad Nagel, mistakes tolerance for interest, and do^ not grasp that Rose encourages him just to satisfy her vanity. He reads to her the poems which he has dedicated to her, and which are the sincere outpourings of his great love and she can scarcely feign interest in them.
