Her mother did not want her daughter to follow in her footsteps, so she had her trained as a secretary. Kay, however, had ideas of her own concerning her career, and so determined was she to become an actress that at last her mother gave in to her desire. Kay came to the screen from the stage, making her film debut in “ Gentlemen of the Press.” Other parts followed, but it was not until she was cast opposite Ronald Col man in “ Raffles ” that she found her real stride. More recent films include “ The Man Who Lost Himself," “ The Feminine Touch ” and “ Charley’s Aunt." Despite the fact that she usually plays sophisticated roles, Kay says that she is a very simple person. She likes to potter about the kitchen, she has no beauty secrets, and declares that she can eat anything with- out putting on weight. J-JenRY Fonda says that the only reason he isn’t a newspaperman is because cold water was dashed on his journalistic ambitions when he left college and city editors wouldn’t even give him a chance as a cub reporter. He became interested in the Omaha Community Players, and then decided that if he couldn t be a newspaperman he would be an actor. “ The Farmer Takes a Wife ” made his name on Broadway, and Hollywood began bidding for his services, and it was in a screen version of “ The Farmer Takes a Wife ’’ that he made his film debut. Henry’s chief hobbies are amateur photography, construction of aeroplane models, archery and amateur sculpturing. He nearly always carries a camera with him and has taken thousands of candid shots of his friends and acquaintances He has also developed, enlarged and printed them. One of the rooms in his home is fitted up as a dark room. He was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, on May 16th, 1905. He has black hair, blue eyes and is six feet two inches tall. He has been married twice, and has a daughter and a stepdaughter.
