BOBBY VAN, seen here as he appears in Small Town Girl, in which he dances with Jane Powell, was once a trumpet player and led his own five- piece; band, and he plays the trumpet for one scene in the film. He went to Hollywood from the New York stage, made a guest appearance in Skirts Ahoy I and was in the Mario Lanza film Because You’re Mine. He has a long-term contract with M.-G.-M. ELAINE STEWART is an- other newcomer at the M.-G.-M. studio. A top model in New York, her face was seen adorning thousands of advertisements. She was also a television actress and was appearing in a dramatic show in New York when dis- covered for the screen. After appearing in small film roles this dark-eyed, auburn-haired lovely had her first important part in The Bad a>id the Beauti- ful, followed by A Slight Case of Larceny. CLEO MOORE, who is de- Bobby Van scribed as a canary blonde, was bom on October 31st, 1928, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Prior to coming to the screen her only acting experience was in school plays. After being in one or two Radio films, in- cluding On Dangerous Ground and The Pace Thai Thrills, she co-starred with Hugo Haas and Mona Barrie in Columbia’s Strange Fascination. EVA BERGH, Norwegian actress, made her first appearance in a British film starring with John Mills in The Long Memory. She gave up the idea of being a musician in order to be an actress. She studied drama, played in films in her native country and was under contract to one of the three state theatres in Oslo. Brunette RITA GAM made her screen debut opposite Ray Milland in The Thief, the first non-dialogue film since the advent of talkies. She was bom in Pittsburgh but grew up in New York. She made her stage debut in 1946 without studying acting beforehand. She was in Broadway plays, appearing with such stars as Jose Ferrer, Mercedes McCambridge and Zorina. In 1952 she commenced what proved to be a very successful television career. KENNETH TOBEY had minor roles in several films and was then given his first important part in THE THING From Another World, followed by Angel Face. Bom in San Francisco on March 21st, 1919, he originally intended to be a lawyer, but work with a little theatre group eventually led to the Broadway stage.
