Shirley Booth Mary Germaine VALERIE BETTIS made her screen debut in the role of Veronica in Affair in Trinidad. Well known on Broadway as a dancer and choreographer, she was originally taken to Hollywood to stage Rita Hayworth's dances for this film, but was given the acting assignment as well when Columbia studio executives saw her on the rehearsal stage with Miss Hayworth. Green- eyed, blonde Valerie is 5 feet 5 inches tall. Her birthday is December 20th, and she is of French - Scottish - Irish descent. SHIRLEY BOOTH, a fam- ous Broadway actress of whom critics have raved and a director said : “ She doesn’t act. She lives on the stage," came to the screen to repeat the role she had played on Broadway in Come Back, Little Sheba. As a small child she gave her father no peace until he had consented to her becoming an actress and she was only twelve when she joined a stock company. Her first break came in a Broadway play with Humphrey Bogart. Her birthplace was New York City and she was bom on August 30th, 1911. ALEXANDER SCOURBY, whom we first saw as Max Fabian in Affair in Trinidad, followed by Because of You and The Redhead from Wyoming, is a successful stage and radio actor. He was bom in New York of Greek parentage and can speak seyeral languages fluently. He is the only man who has ever read the Bible fropi beginning to end, on gramophone records. He took ten years doing it and feels that it is the most satisfying job of his life, because the recordings were made especially for the blind. For many years he has been recording novels for the same purpose. Next to the Bible, the longest work he has recorded is Tolstoy’s " War and Peace.” MARY GERMAINE, at the age of sixteen was London’s youngest stage manager. Prior to that she had had nine years’ theatrical training and two years of repertory experience. After further repertory work she made her screen bow in Laughter in Paradise. Other films in which she has played are Cloudburst, Where's Charley ?, Father's Doing Fine. ROBERT HORTON was bom in Los Angeles on July 29th, 1924, is 6 feet in height and has red hair and brown eyes. It was his fine performance in a TV show that brought him to the notice of screen executives. His films have included Pony Soldier, Apache War Smoke, See How They Run. Valerie Bettis Robert Horton
