Producer Betty Box and director Ralph Thomas on location in India for “ The Wind Cannot Read.” Michael Red- grave has an easy time of it while being filmed for scenes in “ Law and Disorder,” in which he relaxes in the hay near Newport, Pembroke - shire. John Loder, Magda Miller and Marshall Thompson at a party in the Society Restaurant given by A malgamated Productions to cele- brate their tenth film in this country, which was ” The Secret Man.” spite of all this, in April, 1912, the greatest liner foundered. The film was based on Walter Lord’s book. Night after night in bitter cold weather the stars and the rest of the cast worked on sea location sequences. Replicas of parts of the mighty liner were skilfully built in the studios. Modern song and dance came to life in Six-Five Special, made in the Twickenham Studios, an Insignia Film, produced by Herbert Smith, with Alfred Shaughnessy directing. Betty Box was awarded the O.B.E. before she left this country for India. With the director of the film, Ralph Thomas, she flew thousands of miles in search of locations for The Wind Cannot Read, adapted for the screen by the author of the book, Richard Mason. There was love, intense realism and drama in the studios at Shepperton during the filming of The Pack. Brian Desmond Hurst’s warm sympathetic personality brings out the best in his artistes, especially in such a film. To celebrate their tenth film in this country. Amalgamated Productions gave a party on the eve of making The Secret Man. Locations were set in London for this picture. Michael Redgrave had a tough time for some of the sea sequences in his film Law and Disorder. Many sequences were shot on the lovely Pembrokeshire coast, watched by interested visitors.
