Inger Stevens AS in previous years Picture Show Annual devotes its ^ last pages to the newcomers in the film world and although some of them have already gained fame in other mediums, it wishes every one of them the best of luck on the screen. When INGER STEVENS worked part time in a record shop during her college days and found that Bing Crosby discs were among the most popular, she little dreamed that she would make her film debut opposite him in Man on Fire. Her engagement for this picture came as a result of her success in television. The year before she had also made her first appearance on Broadway, having previously toured in a couple of plays. BEN GAZZARA had won great acclaim on the Broadway stage for his performance in “ End As a Man," " Cat on a Hot Tin Roof ” and “ A Hatful of Rain ” prior to coming to the screen in the film version of End As a Man. He was bom in New York on August 28th. 1930, of parents who had emigrated from Sicily. Ben had his first taste of acting at a boys' club but he tried a number of jobs before he took it up as his career. Black-haired and hazel-eyed, he is 5 feet 11 inches tall. Except for a dance performed with Bob Fosse in Kiss Me, Kate, a few other small dancing engagements and an appearance in a short film The Magic Lamp, CAROL HANEY was a dance assistant in the film world prior to her star performance in The Pajama Game in which she repeated the role she had made famous on the stage. She had appeared in night clubs all over America. Bom in New Bedford, Massachusetts, she celebrates her birthday on May 28th. She began studying dancing at the age of seven.
