12 A PRACTICAL MANUAL OF SCREEN PLAY WRITING Screen play classifications The Hollywood screen play can be broken down into a number of classifications. Although they call for the same over-all treatment, insofar as writing is concerned, each is subject to certain variations. Many of these variations will be discussed in forthcoming sections. The same classifications, with few exceptions, can be used for television films. It will suffice now merely to list the classifications for identification purposes.
