All attention is suddenly attracted by the arrival of a helicopter and the emergence of the dramatic figure of Cleopatra draped in furs. She passes through the line of dignitaries and greets each of them in his own language and moves to a point of view on a promontory. The signal is given and a jet zooms in to bomb the poppy field with flame. As the opium harvest is consumed Cleo remarks that the street value of the crop would have been about seven million dollars. Excerpt 41 The Airport Fight Cleopatra Jones arrives from an international mission an is greeted by a gang of killers. They have been sent by Cleo’s arch enemy, ‘‘Mommy.’’ Cleo surprises them by arriving unexpectedly down the baggage chute and quickly disposes of them with a combination of karate and marksmanship. As the police arrive she flashes her international credentials. Excerpt 42 ‘‘Mommy’s’’ Rage Shelley Winters as ‘‘Mommy,’’ the violent and deadly head of dope distribution operation, rages at her band of killers for their failure to stop Cleopatra. She beats the tough guys about with her fists and threatens destruction for Cleopatra Jones. Excerpt 43 Cleo’s Jurisdiction Cleopatra Jones meets with two of her friends and colleagues On the police force for an explanation of why her B and S House has been raided. The police are apologetic and plead with Cleo to keep her people from Starting a war on the city. Cleo then appears at the B and S House and is greeted by Bernie Casey. Excerpt 44 Doodlebug’s Girl Cleo arrives at the lush apartment of Doodlebug, leading pusher of the area, to find out if he knows who planted the dope on her friends. Doodlebug protests his innocence and ignorance when Brenda Sykes appears and it is revealed that she has become Doodlebug’s girl. Outstanding line in this sequence is delivered by Cleo when one of Doodlebug’s henchmen draws a blade on her. She says, ‘‘The next time you pull out a razor around me you better shave!’’ Excerpt 45 The Chase This is an excerpt of the super-exciting automobile chase with fantastic crashes and even more fantastic misses. One of the high points of action in the feature. Excerpt 46 Doodlebug and ‘‘Mommy’’ Doodlebug, king to the dope pushers, faces gang boss and underworld lord ‘‘Mommy’’ played by Shelley Winters. He announces to the dread queen of crime that Cleopatra Jones has made it just too tough for him to operate and that he’s leaving the organization. ‘‘Mommy’’ storms and threatens in a pyrotechnical display of rage against Cleopatra Jones. The Junk Yard Cleopatra Jones is brought as a prisoner by ‘‘Mommy’”’ in Excerpt 47 the automobile junk yard. ‘‘Mommy’’ gloats in her triumph over Cleopatra and demonstrates her villainy by putting one of her killers through the giant machine that chews up automobiles and spits them out.
