‘DUNDEE’ FIESTA
Most of the action of ''Major Dundee" is set in Mexico, and most of the picture was filmed on location in that country—in some of the most rugged, beautiful and colorful surroundings ever brought to the screen. A "Mexican Fiesta" could provide your community and your theatre with a considerable opening excitement. Among the angles to be considered are:
e "Major Dundee" costume dance and fiesta, set up by a local organization for its fund drive and including Mexican foods, music, etc.
e Mexican travel and vacation photo contest, worked with editor of newspaper travel section, photographic supply shop, etc.
e Mexican Tourist Bureau and travel agency tie-ups, along with travel fashions, luggage, etc.
e Mexican gift and souvenir shops, not only for point-of-sale promotion but also for contest prizes, giveaways and special "gimmicks" to attract VIP attention.
e Mexican serapes, sombreros, guitars, etc., in window displays.
THE MUSIC
Daniele Amfitheatrof's score for ‘Major Dundee" is being issued as an LP album by Columbia Records, which plans an intensive, nationwide campaign around it. Also to be pushed by the recording company is a 45 rpm single, ''The Major Dundee March," by Mitch Miller and His Sing-Alongs. Flip side carries ''To Be With You,'' love theme tune from the Jerry Bresler production, with lyrics by Al Stillman, also sung by Mitch Miller and His Sing-Alongs.
Mitch Miller and his group are heard on the soundtrack of the Jerry Bresler production, and on the Columbia Records’ LP. Both the album and the single pave the way to music store window and counter display, newspaper co-op advertising and, of course, important disc jockey support for your engagement of "Major Dundee."
A two-color window card on the soundtrack album is available in limited quantities by writing direct to: Merchandising Department, Columbia Pictures Corp., 711 5th Ave., New York, N. Y. 10022.
