Omega Watch Tie-Up QOMEGAS: ; ; watch on cs o eat £ %& the moon co IN THE SAGE OF IRONMEN ONE More than 4000 Omega Watch dealers throughout the country— the nation's most prestigious, all located in heavily-trafficked areas— have been advised of the Omega Watch-"'Marooned" tie-up via a special mailing urging them to tie-in in a variety of ways. Tie-up cooperation includes, of course, the jumbo easeled display shown above in reduced size, a two-color window piece certain to attract and hold attention, and the 280-line co-op newspaper ad mat prepared by Omege and illustrated at left in full-size. "Marooned" showmen would do well to get in touch with all Omega Watch dealers, to discuss window and in-store displays, using stills and other art from the film to supplement the Omega Watch display, co-op newspaper advertising as well as radio and television advertising which also ties-in with the picture, contests, etc. Be sure co operating jewelers and store officials see the film. JEWELER Authorized Agency for Omega, the first watch on the moon. The Space Program! The space programs of both the United States and the Soviet Union continue to make news... and every new step along the way, taken by either country, can be used locally to help publicize "Marooned." e Work with local editors and commentators on references to the film, in connection with comment on current space activities. e If there is a space shot taking place, with radio or television coverage, plant appropriate spots before and after the news broadcasts. e A newspaper morgue will have stories and headlines highlighting space activities over the past few years. Photostat or Xerox them for a lobby board montage, with appropriate credits. ‘Space’ Stamps A recently-issued commemorative 6c postage stamp, the so-called "Man in Space" stamp, might be a helpful item in 'Marooned" promotion. If a number of these stamps can be obtained from the postoffice, or from collectors or stamp dealers, arrange for a special lobby or window display. Or, use them in (not on!) a special mailing to VIP's or to group sales possibilities, suggesting that the stamps be used by them when they order block tickets. Additionally, a considerable number of nations have, over the past few years, issued "space" stamps of one sort or another. Arrange with the stamp department of your town's largest department store to set up, and advertise, a special showing of these. Page 12 Space Angles For ‘Marooned’ The tremendous, world-wide interest in the exploration of outer space and inter-planetary travel, headlined almost daily in the news media, should be focused on your showing of "Marooned." For example: e Using a scene mat and credits, print and distribute a form on which space-minded residents can sign up as future astronauts. Copy can read: “Aware of the Grave Risks of Being Marooned in Space, Like the Astronauts in 'Marooned,' | Still Wish to Register for Space Flight Training." Enlistees can sign their names and addresses and deposit the forms in a theatre ballot box. Promoted prizes might be awarded those selected in a drawing. e If possible, borrow a ‘Space" suit, or make up one to resemble that worn by U. S. astronauts. Send a bally around town in the suit, with full credits on his back, to distribute astronaut application blanks or other printed material. e The sound effects of a Cape Kennedy launching is available for plays on your lobby and marquee sound systems, on a postered sound truck, and on a disc jockey show. Order the record from: Thomas J. Valentino, Inc., 150 West 46th Street, New York, N. Y. 10036. Request record No. 4219, priced at $2.50. e Plan a "Space" lobby. Scene Still Nos. 74, 75, 77, 78, 81, 82 and 83, made during production of "Marooned," picture the astronauts and their space vehicles in orbit over the earth. Enlarge the pictures, or use as is, for a special display on a lobby wall. Check local merchants for "space" fashions, toys or articles, and use in additional “space exhibits. Enlarge, cut-out and back with cardboard the astronaut figures and space vehicle on the posters and fasten to the theatre facade with title credits. Spotlight the display at night.
