The Book In conjunction with the release of the picture, Gold Medal Books is publishing a special edition of ''Murderers' Row,'' another of the exciting Matt Helm adventure — stories written by Donald Hamilton. The book, distributed nationally, will be plugged with point-of-sale material with picture credits and room for theatre and playdate information. All book outlets, book stores, chain stores, newsstands and drug stores that stock the Matt Helm books are excellent for promotions tieing-in with playdates. Offer scene stills and credit placards for special window displays. e An ad for the picture can be used for an attractive book marker distributed through all book outlets, inserted in books and placed on library desks for readers. e Arrange for copies of the book to be presented to radio, TV and newspaper personalities. # Separate the pages of a paperback, rubber-stamp your complete credits in red ink and use as a throwaway, package stuffer, etc. e Other cut-out pages can be spotted on a 40 x 60 lobby board with ribbons leading to stills from the picture illustrating the action. e Present the first ten or more patrons at the boxoffice each day with copies. e Put copies of the book on sale in theatre lobby or at concession stand, well in advance of opening. TV 16mm COLOR FEATURETTES Two attention-holding 16 mm color featurettes are available for "Murderers' Row" showmanship. They are planned for television, and may be obtained by writing direct to: Exploitation Department, Columbia Pictures Corp., 7! ! Fifth Avenue, New York, N. Y. 10022. The featurettes are: * "HOW LOVELY TO BE A WOMAN," with Ann-Margret starred. U.S. TREASURY DEPT. PRE-SELLS THE STARS! Not available, but certainly valuable to all theatres showing the film, are two U. S. Treasury Dept. television trailers made on the set of ''Murderers' Row."' They star Dean Martin and Ann-Margret, respectively, and they carry an appeal for the purchase of U. S. Savings Bonds. If these trailers have not yet been programmed by local television stations, see that they are ...and that they are followed by your own picture and playdate credits! The soundtrack album from ‘Murderers’ Row," and the recordings of star Dean Martin and other performers in the film, offer showmen a variety of excellent promotional possibilities. The picture album, recorded by Colgems and being distributed nationally by RCA Victor, is backed via distributor campaigns in cooperation with local playdates. Contact with the area RCA distributor should be made as far in advance as possible and plans made for deejay plays, co-op newspaper ads, contests, window displays and the presentation of albums to VIP's, libraries, schools, etc. Every radio station music library stocks recordings by Dean Martin which, with the soundtrack album, can form the basis for a special Dean Martin Night or Song Fest, in honor of ''Murderers' Row." YOUR OWN DISCOTHEQUE! One of the highlight scenes in "'Murderers' Row" features Dean Martin as Matt Helm and AnnMargret in a French Riviera discotheque jammed with other dancers. Let your younger patrons get into the act on opening night by staging a discotheque party in the lobby or theatre foyer, with music played on remote speakers. If a section of the street in front of the theatre can be closed to traffic for the stunt, so much the better. Go after newspaper photo coverage, and radio/TV sponsorship if possible.
