There is, of course, a certain amount of romance in “Tyrant of the Sea,” but the film essentially is a story of men against the sea, and men against each other. Rhys Williams is superb in the title role, as a grim and vengeful officer determined in maintaining his command. Ron Randell is equally satisfactory as the reckless fighter and tender lover of the film, the man who loves the daughter of the “Tyrant of the Sea,” and defies him. In the feminine roles, Valentine Perkins is effective and attractive as the girl, and Doris Lloyd delightful as her mother.
