The collaboration that made five previous Paul Newman hits joined forces again to create HOMBRE. Director Martin Ritt bore down on the HOMBRE company to deliver depth and drama through this thoroughly adult screenplay. The star-strong Academy Award cast cuts into characters of brass and brimstone. Paul Newman is HOMBRE in a hard-hitting dramatic motion picture which is a sure-fire critical and public hit. Diane Cilento (nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in ''Tom Jones'') gives a performance that guarantees her a rank as an international star of the first order. And Newman's big gun-down finish is a shocking triumph in suspense. The picture is one which merits all-out efforts in sales as one of the dramatic triumphs of motion picture art, and one which lends itself admirably to special screenings for selected guests. A special premiere might well be planned along the line of the New York world premiere where TRUE, The Man's Magazine, in association with 20th CenturyFox, invited guests to be present ''in the audience of distinguished men.'' On a local level, for example, this might be done by a Men's Store. "HOMBRE OF THE YEAR'! The theatre might declare a night for the ''Hombre of the Year'' at which time they wil] invite prominent male citizens to be guests of the theatre. Be sure to get press and radio coverage.
