Contact your local dance studio a week or two prior to your opening and arrange a ‘‘Bossa-Nova Special” based on Red Buttons and Carolyn Jones dance in ‘‘A TICKLISH AFFAIR.” Have dance studio offer a free introductory Bossa-Nova lesson as a come-on for membership. Theatre might offer guest tickets to those most proficient in the dance. Order from National Screen Service. (1804-68) * MUSIC PROMOTION! In addition to singing the title song for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's “A TICKLISH AFFAIR,’’ Jack Jones recorded the song for Kapp Records. Capitol Records is releasing an instrumental on ‘A TICKLISH AFFAIR,”’ with extensive point of sale promotion. Robbins Music will make available print copies of the title song. Utilize the above three tie-ins by contacting your local music stores and radio stations, in order to obtain maximum exposure. 4 INVITATIONS VIA BALLOONS! Prior to your opening you might send up several weather balloons—containing official invitations to your opening night, with an additional invitation from radio station and/or newspaper for the finder to come to the opening at their expense. By consulting the Weather Bureau you can determine which air currents over your area would take the balloons to various sections of your state, and schedule your launchings accordingly. You can issue daily reports on where the balloons should be, and also report any sitings. This should be good for at least local, if not statewide coverage in the press, and possibly TV coverage for the launching. If the above contest is not suitable for your area, you might just want to send up balloons and have the radio listeners guess the distance they will travel. * RADIO-NEWSPAPER CONTEST! Since Shirley Jones and Carolyn Jones are both stars of ‘‘A TICKLISH AFFAIR,’’ a possible Jones Girls Contest can be promoted. Have local radio, TV, and newspaper conduct a search for two look-alikes named Jones. This would be of particular interest to the D.J.s since Jack Jones by coincidence is also recording the title song. Contestants would submit pictures plus short resume. The two girls, whose last name must be Jones, who resemble Carolyn or Shirley might be awarded a five-minute telephone conversation with look alikes, meet the Jones boy ‘‘Jack Jones,’’ plus receive the guestof-honor treatment at your local engagement. aM te Ohenbont a he a If the above contest doesn't work out you might want to suggest to the leading D.J.s to run a contest that guesses the number of weather balloons it will take to lift a person.
