Gale was attending the San Jacinto High School in Houston, Tex., and had already been judged the most talented young actress of her years in the city, when she won the regional prize in the “Gateway to Hollywood” contest. Summoned to the film capital, she was shortly afterward declared the winner of the national award, after appearing for many weeks in radio plays in which she played opposite leading motion picture stars. As the winner in the
feminine classification, Gale was awarded a film contract, and made her first appearance in “Tom
Brown’s School Days.”
Once her professional career was launched, the young actress made rapid progress, and was given roles of gradually increasing importance in “One Crowded Night,” “Gambling Daughters,” ‘Let’s Go Collegiate”

The cast appearing with Miss Storm, Downs and Lowery in “Campus Rhythm” includes Ge-Ge Pearson, Claudia Drake, Johnny Duncan and the triple-voiced comedian, Candy Candido. Arthur Dreifuss directed for producer Lindsley Parsons, and Charles R. Marion wrote the screenplay.

With the pooling of advance reports from preview critics, Monogram’s “Campus Rhythm,” filmusical:opening Veo.gl at the 2 en. Theatre, is a fast-moving comedy designed to provide escape entertainment for all members of the family.
Drama critics who caught the picture on its initial showing were enthusiastically in accord about the acting and singing talents of Gale Storm, and the performance of Johnny Downs in this film which records the gay life of a college campus. They found the four new
‘ songs introduced by Miss Storm as f/ entertaining and refreshing as their § | sponsor.
All of them had special praise for the exceptional supporting cast, including Robert Lowery, Doug Leavitt, Herbert Heyes, Marie Blake, Claudia Drake, Ge-Ge Peaerson, Johnny Duncan and Candy Candido. Miss Pearson is a recruit from radio, who has a fetching way of delivering novelty tunes as she does with two songs in this film.
