SYNOPSIS (Not For Publication)
New York television network mogul G. K. Rogers (Thurston Hall) sends his two prize talent scouts Don (Don Barry) and Seldom (Wally Vernon) out to the hinterlands to line up authentic western talent to be used on the firm’s top program, the Spade Cooley show.
Seldom garbs himself in the typical western “dude” finery and the two, after flat tires, wrong detours, etc., finally hit the open road leading to Prairie City, reportedly a veritable beehive of talent.
Meanwhile, at the Star Ranch near Prairie City, the owner Barbara (Mary Beth Hughes) tells her music making ranch hands that because of the disappearance of some of their cattle she will be unable to pay them. They agree to stay on, and the foreman, Charlie (Marshall Reed) goes to Prairie City where he discovers that Frontier Saloon owner Jed Stratton (John Eldredge) had shipped cattle belonging to the Star Ranch. Charlie is shot by Stratton’s henchman, and is found by Don and Seldom who rush him to a hospital. They then go to the Star Ranch where they meet Barbara and her crew and tell them of Charlie’s injury.
Don and Seldom head for the Frontier Saloon where they make a deal with Stratton to use the saloon as their headquarters during a big Square Dance Jubilee night when all local entertainers will perform before television cameras.
Stratton plans to rustle more cattle while everyone for miles around is in his saloon during the Jubilee. Seldom is arrested just before the show on suspicion of rustling when his spur is found on a nearby robbed ranch. Don suspects Stratton of being the head of the rustlers, and while the giant Jubilee is in progress, he frees Seldom after a neat trick and then thrashes Stratton after proving he is a criminal.
Don and Barbara embrace fondly, and the two plus Seldom, and some of the best western talent ever seen, head for New York where G.K. weleomes them with open arms and proceeds to televise the best TV show on the air with the entertainers discovered by Don and Seldom.
