In 1929, he was the master of ceremonies of a children’s broadcast from Hollywood which featured such kids as Jane Withers and Judy Garland. After playing movie parts with his friend Mickey Rooney, he went back to radio to appear with the top comics. He was also heard on Lux Radio Theatre, Big Town and Silver Theatre. In “There Goes Kelly,” Miller once more hits a broadcasting studio, but this-time as a lively page boy, who, along with his irresponsible Irish pal, Moran, is constantly getting into laughable difficulties. Wanda McKay is featured as the beautiful blonde companion of the peppery team. Also in the cast are Ralph Sanford, Dewey Robinson, Jan Wiley and Anthony Warde. Edmond Kelso wrote the original screenplay, which was directed by Phil Karlstein for associate producer William Strohbach. As a guide| in a radio station, Moran finds enough awkward situations to keep himself in the doghouse, and have some left over for his associates, Wanda McKay and Sidney Miller. Not that they couldn’t do all right on their own. And then the murders start and the young trio learn, to the delight of the audience, what real trouble can be. Miss McKay supplies the comedy with the fresh blonde beauty which she made famous as a top model and cover girl. She also provides one more provocation to Moran’s already complicated life. Miller provides more than his share of laughs as Moran’s timid partner who disapproves of informal criminal investigation. The light-hearted young trio have an able supporting cast including Ralph Sanford, Dewey Robinson, Jan Wiley and Anthony Warde. With such sponsorship, Jackie had little difficulty obtaining a part in “And So They Were Married.” He acquitted himself so well that he soon became one of MHollywood’s most sought-after juvenile players. As Jimmy Kelly, a radio station guide, Moran has the graces of a bull in a glassware factory.
