Two Column Scene Mat No. 20 Swift Action Feature of New Western Film Success (Review) There is a constant succession of hair-raising incidents in “Wild Horse Stampede,” the Monogram western picture which opened an engagement at the “Trail Blazers’ theatre last night. The film is blazing action from first to last. The screen has known few cow-¥ boy stars who were so popular with the theatregoing public, or were such daring horsemen, as Hoot Gibson and Ken Maynard, who are teamed in the featured roles. Literally born to the saddle, and veterans of not only countless outdoor films but of circuses and rodeos, this pair display a brand of horsemanship that is exceptional. Hardly less expert is Betty Miles, champion California cowgirl, who plays the leading feminine role. The cast throughout is excellent, including as it does many such players as Ian Keith, Si Jenks, Bob Baker, Don Stewart, Kenneth Harlan, Glen Strange and Reed Howes. The plot of the story concerns the construction of a railroad through territory controlled by a band of outlaws, and the efforts of the cowboys to bring a semblance of law and order into the situation. The climax brings about a furious rush of sustained action, and clinches the success of this first film of a new festern series.
