Synopsis Dick Martin (EDD BYRNES) is arranger, manager, general confidant and Jack-of-all-brains for The Wigglers (ROBERT LOGAN, ARON KINCAID, DON EDMONDS), a college-boy musical group who have dropped out of the university to make their niche in the world. While surfing with the crowd he gets a telegram that Mr. Wolf (JAMES WELLMAN), from whom they purchased their instruments on credit, is forcing the little matter of payment... in cash. Dick gathers his crew for a brain session, but Mr. Wolf is soon on the doorstep huffing and puffing for his ‘‘bread.’’ The wolf in man’s clothing has one weakness, however, his appreciative eye for a pretty girl and the boys are able to decoy him long enough to give them a shot at the big road race at Riverside, but with nothing more to show for it than a bucket of bolts by the time it’s over. As a last resort Dick cons the credit manager (CHRIS NOEL) at the college into advancing the needed money on the pretext that the boys are conducting research into African tribal rhythms, but when she and her finance committee (BRENDA BENET, GAIL GILMORE, MIKKI JAMISON) journey to the beach to deliver the check they discover the real purpose and renege on the deal. The girls are not ones to take defeat lightly, though, and form a Dropout Rescue Squad, turning themselves into a quartet of real cool chicks, all the better to lure their errant students back to the hallowed halls of ivy. By now Mr. Wolf has enlisted the aid of the police but Dick manages to keep the group out of the clutches of the law long enough to set up an audition for the big Hot Rod and Musical Show. They win a place in the show and arrive at the auditorium one jump ahead of the men in blue. With the aid of a few costumes from the girls’ dressing room they make it to the rostrum and walk off with the big prize, enough to pay Mr. Wolf for his instruments and assorted other damages. The girls, too, have done their work well as the boys are happily on their way back to college to complete their education before making another assault on the musical world.
