AMERICAN MACHINE AND FOUNDRY COMPANY AND FRITO LAY POTATO CHIPS COMPANY Both American Machine & Foundry (A.M.F.) and Frito Lay Potato Chips play an important part in “The Odd Couple” and they can play an even bigger part via a fantastic tie-in. A.M.F. is the supplier of (with the exception of the refreshment concession) every piece of material you can find in a bowling alley . . . including shoes, balls, pins, automatic changers, etc. A.M.F. services over 10,000 of these bowling centers within the United States; and to each one of these centers, their main office is forwarding display posters showing Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in the bowling alley sequence from THE ODD COUPLE (giving full credit to the movie) and asking their representatives, listed here, to cooperate with you in every way possible. In addition to this, the spring 1968 edition of A.M.F.’s trade paper—Magic Triangle News—a feature story on THE ODD COUPLE is prominently displayed on page 15. The Triangle News has a circulation in excess of 15,000. With regard to Frito Lay, A.M.F. is planning to offer an ODD COUPLE special that goes as follows: for a certain limited time, A.M.F. is planning to snipe bags of Lay’s Potato Chips. These snipes will offer free bowling games compliments of THE ODD COUPLE. These special bag snipes will certainly get the fullest support of both A.M.F. and Frito Lay. In addition to these radio spots, Schlitz has prepared tie-in ads with THE ODD COUPLE, which will appear in several major national magazines at the time that we open the film across the country. PEPSI COLA The Pepsi Cola Bottling Corporation has prepared a gigantic point-of-sale campaign in connection with THE ODD COUPLE. The major part of this campaign started in New York on May 15th, when hundreds of Pepsi Cola delivery trucks displayed posters heralding THE ODD COUPLE on their backs. This truckback campaign will be duplicated in many cities throughout the United States to coincide with THE ODD COUPLE openings. In conjunction with the nation-wide openings of the film, Pepsi Cola has prepared exact replicas of the truck-backs which they are using in New York and shipping them to their franchises throughout the country. We would like you to get in touch with the Pepsi Cola representative in your area(s) and invite them to the special preview of the film (where there is no special preview planned, to whatever sneak preview of THE ODD COUPLE you may have planned).
