SAMUEL Z. ARKOFF enesenrs SYNOPSIS (Not for Publication) At the deathbed of a Mamaloi (Voo Doo High priestess), she is surrounded by a group of her close followers. Lisa (PAM GRIER), a beautiful young Voo Doo priestess is making arrangements for a funeral ceremony. In the group, but not actually a part of it is Justin (DON MITCHELL), an expoliceman, fiancee to Lisa. As Lisa closes the Mamaloi’s eyes in death a bizarre figure, the Doll Man (DON BLACKMAN), closes a tiny coffin containing a doll replica of the Mamaloi. Upon this scene bursts Willis (RICHARD LAWSON), the Mamaloi’s son, who is certain that he is to inherit her mystical power and become the new Papaloi of the cult. Upon being informed by Lisa that such is not the case, the cult must elect a new leader, Willis stalks out of the little ceremony in a rage, threatening revenge. Willis hastens to the shack of the Ragman (BERNIE HAMILTON), himself a disgruntled, deposed Papaloi. There he receives a bag of human bones with written incantations on bringing the bones to life, providing an instrument for Willis’ revenge. Not realizing that he is in possession of the earthly remains of the dread vampire Blacula, Willis performs the voodoo ceremony and Blacula (WILLIAM MARSHALL) is reincarnated. Angry at being recalled from his eternal rest, Blacula immediately makes Willis his first victim and the would-bemaster becomes a vampire slave. On the following day, Lisa and Justin are discussing his proposed party and fashion show, displaying African artifacts, to be held at Justin’s house, when Lisa is baited by Sheriff Dunlop (MICHAEL CONRAD). The sheriff wants to find out who is going to be the new voodoo leader and whether or not he should expect trouble. Later that evening, when they drop by Willis’ house for pre-party cocktails, Louis and Elaine are made victims and added to the growing list of vampires. Although Blacula had forbidden Willis to go to Justin’s party, he attends himself to admire his native country’s artifacts and the fashion show featuring lovely models Gloria (J ANEE MICHELLE) and Maggie (BEVERLY GILL). He and Lisa are strangely drawn to each other, Blacula sensing that the young priestesses occult powers might be the means for his return to the oblivion he longs for. While there, he also victimizes Gloria, adding her to the list of his vampire slaves. Denny (LYNNE MOODY), Willis’ girlfriend, disappointed at not finding her lover at the party, goes to the old mansion here he adds her to the vampire list. The growing list of disappearances leads to a determined investigation by the police department headed by Dunlop and aided by Justin, who is suspicious of Mamawalde (Blacula’s African name) and his relationship with Lisa. This eventually leads to a confrontation between the police and the small army of vampires. A wild battle between the two opposing forces ensues in the old mansion where the police interrupt the voodoo ceremony which Lisa has set up at Mamawalde’s behest for the purpose of returning Blacula to the netherworld of peace. Mamawalde/Blacula, enraged at the interruption, joins in the fight, destroying police right and left. He finally reaches Justin and is about to kill him when Lisa, seeing her lover’s peril, drives a stake through the heart of the replica of Blacula she had made for the ceremony.
