SHOPPING CENTER BALLY — Have a tall, black man outfitted as Blacula, i.e., tuxedo, cape — fangs, if possible, circulate around shopping centers, markets and/or other heavily trafficked areas to hand out promotional material on the picture — including theatre, schedules, dates, etc. VOO-DOO PROTECTION KITS — Purchase large quantities of bay leaves or other similar aromatic foliage and hand out to theatre patrons as protection against voo-doo spells or vampire attack. An under-glass display of these items could be made in the lobby and labeled as to their effectiveness and what they protect one from. WOODEN COFFIN DISPLAY — Obtain one or more wooden coffins for lobby display. These receptacles, known to be the daylight resting places for vampires could be outfitted with signs reading ex: Home Sweet Home, Blacula or Do Not Disturb! The lids would be opened after daylight to indicate that the vampires are out on their nightly forays. Also during this time warning signs could be posted to the effect that they might be in the theatre. SOUND EFFECTS BALLY — Record or obtain on pre-recorded tape or record sound track of bloodcurdling screams (male and female) to be played over loud speaker system emitting from the front of theatre. These can be projected at timed intervals to attract attention of passers-by, attracting attention to the feature. SCREAM CONTEST — Make a tie-in with local disc jockey or call-in radio show host to promote a scream contest. Contestants could project screams over the phone. Judging would be done by decibel machine with the loudest scream (or screams) being declared winner. Free tickets to the performance or other premiums could be offered as prizes. VOO-DOO FIREPIT DISPLAY — In the lobby of the theatre or adjacent store window or any other strategic spot make a circle of field stones simulating a voo-doo fire ring. On the inside of the ring would be either simulated fire or ashes with a small pile of bleached beef bones to simulate human anatomy. Placards or other appropriate legend displays could tie-in with the voo-doo aspects of the picture. FREE COLOR TELEVISION TRAILERS Exciting vignettes of the spine-chilling action, eerie voo-doo rites and blood-curdling excitement prevalent in this horror hit are compacted into a hardhitting sell for television audiences. Just enough is shown to titillate the imagination and guarantee you a full house when this electrically charged sequel to Blacula plays your theatre. Designed to appeal to a wide audience they can be spotted on the channels which you feel reaches the largest number in your market area.
