Sophisticated (and some not so sophisticated) New Yorkers were al agog with the saturation teaser campaign which United Artists launched it advance of "'Topkapi.'' On their TV sets they saw a guy sliding into home plat and the umpire shouting 'Topkapi!'’ On the radio (and we dont have to tel you how prevalent that medium is, with the millions of transistor and car sets) they heard the recitation of humorous and familiar nursery rhymes, onl) instead of the expected last line, the word "Topkapi" was substituted. Fron the sides of the busses, posters in brilliant colors proclaimed one worc —'Topkapi."" Ditto posters in those crowded subway stations. And when the) opened their newspapers there were those provocative teasers (in two dif ferent shapes as illustrated at left) staring at them both on and off the amuse. ment pages.
