Mystery Film Due Friday At Strand Theatre
A spine-tingling mystery film will make its local debut at the Strand Theatre this Friday when Warner Bros.’ “A Shot In The Dark” opens. The film tells the intriguing story of an innocent man’s confession to two brutal murders, one his friend, the other his enemy. In the leading roles are William Lundigan, Nan Wynn and Ricardo Cortez.
Lundigan plays the part of a young reporter who thinks he is as good as the police when it comes to solving crimes. Nan Wynn, who became famous for her singing, was cast in a perfect role, that of a night club singer. Lundigan likes her, but he is not alone in his affection. Regis Toomey, in the role of a detective, also tries his best to make a hit with her.
Ricardo Cortez is cast as a night club owner who refuses to sell the place to racketeers but instead offers its sale to an old friend of his named Kilpatrick, played by Theodore Von Eltz. He is also bothered by his ex-girl friend, portrayed by Lucia Carroll, who works herself into a jealous fury because he is going to marry someone else.
When both Von Eltz and Lucia Carroll are found murdered, one at an_ airport... the offer in an hotel room, suspicion falls on Cortez.

are baffled by two seemingly unconnected murders. Nan Wynn, who made a hit as Hal Kemp’s vocalist, is right at home in her portrayal of a night club singer, She is the one person who can make Lundigan forget about crime, newspapers and_ everything else when she’s around.
Ricardo Cortez adds another to his long list of great performances as a _ night club owner with plenty of trouble. They are racketeers, murders, and the most complex of all, a jealous ex-girl friend, brilliantly portrayed by Lucia Carroll. When she and a friend of Cortez are murdered, he is blamed by the police. However a sharp-witted detective, played by Regis Toomey, doesn’t agree with his colleagues and together with Lundigan sets out to prove Cortez innocent.
For action, thrills and adventure, “A Shot In The Dark” cannot be surpassed. Director William McGann paced the film perfectly and handled the surprise ending with great finesse. The scenario was written by M. Coates Webster from Frederick Nebel’s exciting original story.

A mystery film that packs suspense from start to finish will open next Friday at the Strand Theatre. The picture, called “A Shot In The Dark,” is the exciting story of a man who pleaded guilty to crimes he never committed.
William Lundigan heads the cast as a reporter who likes crime stories and a certain pretty night club singer, played by Nan Wynn. Ricardo Cortez plays the role of a night club owner who sells his place: to an old friend only to find him brutally murdered before the sale is completed. To make matters worse a jealous exgirl friend of Cortez, played by Lucia Carroll, is also murdered and the police accuse him of both crimes.
Regis Toomey, in the role of a smart detective, doubts Ricardo’s guilt, and together with Lundigan, sets out to bring the actual murderer to justice. It is a thrilling plot with a novel ending that will prove a surprise to all.

cialty is crime stories and whose heart interest is Dixie Waye, played by lovely Nan Wynn. Miss Wynn who has become quite famous as a vocalist is perfect for her role as a night club singer. Ricardo Cortez plays the part of the night club owner who has plenty of trouble on his hands in the form of threatening racketeers and an_ ex-girl friend, portrayed by Lucia Carroll, whose anger knows no bounds when she learns that he is going to marry someone else.
When Cortez’ friend and Miss Carroll are murdered, he is accused of the double crime. An especially clever detective played by Regis Toomey, doesn’t believe him guilty and together with Lundigan, starts after the real murderer.
