Inspired by the forthcoming motion picture which depicts the battle on the high seas against the Nazi U-boats and the need for this kind of pre-service training, deGrouchy was awarded a certificate for efficiency. It is this kind of training which the Navy ,and the Maritime commission endorses for preparing men for “action in the North Atlantic’ and other areas of sea fighting. DeGrouchy has trained until he is now one of Lehigh’s best underwater swimmers, says Coach Brown. The obstacle course is proving its worth at developing a man’s endurance and control under water for it demands extra-ordinary amounts of both in the swimmer who goes the whole distance. A group of the Lehigh Navy reservists who have been taking this water training have been invited by Warner Brothers to attend the premiere of their new picture “Action in the North Atlantic” in New: York the latter part of this month.
