PUBLICITY See | "ALWAYS TOGETHER." Those delightful charmers, Robert Hutton and Joyce Reynolds in Warner Bros.’ lively romantic comedy of that title which is scheduled to premiere next Friday at the Strand Theatre. Siill 684-500 Mat 2B Ernest Truex Celebrates Half Century of Acting It makes his joints creak to think about it, but Ernest Truex. did ten deep-knee bends rerecently and admitted that he had been an actor for 50 years. “That’s half a century,” he says. “Half a century of anything is a long time, but in the acting business, it’s an eternity.” Truex, still as spry as an elf ROBERT HUTTON Sill BH-58 Mat 1B (Opening) Hutton-Reynolds Today At Strand Joyce Reynolds, who co-stars with Robert Hutton in Warner Bros.’ sprightly entertainment, “Always Together” opening today at the Strand Theatre, plays the role of a $37.50 a week stenographer, who is given a million dollars to do with as she pleases. Others important in the supporting cast include: Cecil Kellaway, Ernest Truex and Don McGuire. Frederick De Cordova directed the comedy which was produced by Alex Gottlieb. This is from an original screen play by Phoebe and Henry Ephron and I, A. L. Diamond. 2 and a lot more amusing, swears it’s true that he had his first stage role when he was five years old. “I played in the ghost scene in ‘Hamlet’”, he says, “and as I recall, I was some ‘thing short of sensational.” This momentous occasion took place in Rich Hill, Mo., where a Shakespearean actor was in debt to Ernest’s physicianfather, and in order to repay him, took his son as a pupil. From then on, it was the theatre for Ernest, and by the time he was nine years old, he was playing stock in Kansas City, having exhausted Shakespeare— and vice versa. Truex is celebrating his 50th anniversary in show business by appearing in Warner Bros.’ “Always Together’, due Friday at the Strand. The co-stars of this film are Joyce Reynolds and Bob Hutton, who weren’t even born when Truex was making calf eyes at Mary Pickford and Lillian Gish and paying James Cagney $20 a week for valet services. Truex’ first real hit was made about 35 years ago when he was Miss Pickford’s leading man in “Good Little Devil”, which had several other “firsts,” having been Miss Pickford’s first fulllength picture, and the first Broadway play ever filmed. (Current) ‘Always Together’ Current At Strand Robert Hutton, who appears with Joyce Reynolds in Warner Bros.’ romantic comedy offering, “Always Together”, currently on view at the Strand Theatre, kisses his co-star exactly 27 times in the film. However, in addition to this romantic action which is depicted, Hutton also indulges in some slapstick shenanigans. First he gets soundly slapped (which took many rehearsals), also he slips from a chair and lands on the ground with a resounding thump. This bit also took many rehearsals which left the young star very much bruised and winded. Joyce Reynolds Asserts Herself Regarding Mink Girls attach much too much importance to mink coats, Joyce Reynolds says, and as far as she’s concerned, she’d rather have a race horse—one that wins races. “Why is it,” the young actress inquires of nobody in particular, “that the symbol of success to most women is the possession of a slinky mink coat?” Miss Reynolds was trying on mink coats to wear in a scene for “Always Together’, her new Warner Bros. picture, due Friday at the Strand, and she made faces at the expensive furs as the studio wardrobe woman tried for a fit. In the audience was the star’s mother, Mrs. Mary Reynolds, who by now has become used to her daughter’s outbursts. “She just talks,” Mrs. Reynolds says. “Mink, indeed!” talked Joyce, fingering the sleeve. “How much do you suppose this one cost?” “Oh, this is a Labrador mink”, the wardrobe woman answered, with a quaver of respect in her voice. “It’s worth about $6000.” “Pooh! For $6000 I could buy two convertibles. Or make a down payment on a good fast horse.” “Joyce!” her mother cautioned. “The way you talk about race horses! A body would think you were a—a gambler!” Mrs. Reynolds was also a little bit hesitant about seeing her daughter in mink on the screen. “It’s all very nice, I’m sure’, she reasoned, “but when Double Stint Two of Warner Bros.’ brightest stars, Janis Paige and Jack Carson, appear in a fil-withina-film in “Always Together”, Robert Hutton-Joyce Reynolds starrer, due Friday at the Strand Theatre. In the film, the two stars attend a movie which shows the Paige-Carson combo enacting a scene which was written especially for this particular bit. ‘Janie’ Stars Repeat Warner Bros.’ newest romantic comedy, “Always Together”, with Robert Hutton and Joyce Reynolds co-starred, opens Friday at the Strand Theatre. Important supporting roles are played by Cecil Kellaway and Ernest Truex. Frederick De Cordova directed this film, which reunites the two stars who appeared in “Janie” together. I was a girl, if a young lady appeared in mink, everybody’s eyebrows went up to there. It meant success all right, but hardly the kind of sucess a mother would be proud of... .” “Oh, Mother!” said Joyce. “You’re old-fashioned. Nowadays mink has nothing to do with virtue. It’s strictly a bank account matter.” The 22-year-old star appraised herself in a full-length mirror. She gathered the coat close about her hips and nestled her chin in its softness. “Well”, she admitted, “it is nice... .” Then to the horror of her mother and the wardrobe woman, Joyce flung the coat off and tossed it casually on a couch where it fell in a deflated heap. “Y’d_ still rather have a race horse!” JOYCE REYNOLDS, vivacious star of Warner Bros.’ gay comedy, ‘Always Together", with Robert Hutton opposite, opening Friday at the Strand. Sill JR-468 Mat 1A Cecil Kellaway In ‘Always Together’ Cecil Kellaway, veteran character actor, plays the featured role of an eccentric millionaire in Warner Bros.’ “Always Together”, romantic comedy starring Joyce Reynolds and Robert Hutton, due Friday at the Strand Theatre. In “Always Together’, Kellaway is the man who gives Joyce Reynolds a million dollars and then wants it back. This film is produced by Alex Gottlieb and directed by Frederick De Cordova for Warner Bros. "WOW ... !'"' Cecil Kellaway, as an eccentric tycoon hands over a cool million to those gay romancers, Robert Hutton and Joyce Reynolds, in Warner Bros.’ sprightly, “Always Together", due Friday at the Strand.
