New Romantic Team In “Another Dawn”
(Prepared Review)
Kay Francis, Errol Flynn In New Strand Picture
There’s a British garrison trapped in Iraq (Arabia), and only one chance for them to be saved.
They have an old, feeble airplane. It can fly—with bombs —to a dam that needs to be destroyed. But it can’t carry enough fuel to fly back. The man that flies it and destroys the dam and saves the garrison has no chance in the world of

KAY FRANCIS, ERROL FLYNN CO-STARRING
Going far afield for a pieturesque setting for a movie, Warner Bros. this time chose Iraq (which used to be Arabia) as a locale. They placed a British garrison there, had its members surrounded by wild natives, and offered the problem of how the soldiers and their officers and wives were to be saved — if saved they might be.
“Another Dawn” is the name of the picture. It is scheduled BO ODOM ON © 226.00. Ges ee at the Br acabavecss ce Theatre. Add to that situation the fact that Kay Francis is the lady most chiefly concerned — and that the two men who love her are Errol Flynn and Jan Hunter — and both have a chance to save her and the garrison — and you have the ingredients of real drama.
It all makes a very thrilling movie, and preview experts have put it up to the top of the list among the action and romance pictures of the year.
Errol Flynn is said to surpass his performance in that historymaking movie, “The Charge of the Light Brigade.” And it is said, too, that Hunter (once the idol of all the matinee girls in London) has the best opportunity that has come to him since the Warners imported him to play the Duke of Athens in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
There are mountains and deserts and a lot of fighting and

flying in “Another Dawn,” the producers declare. Also a stirring climax when the time comes for one or the other of Miss Francis’ adorers to save the garrison.
The man who directed “The Story of Louis Pasteur” and “The White Angel”— William Dieterle — guided the making of “Another Dawn.” Besides the three stars, the cast includes such excellent players as Frieda Inescort, Herbert Mundin, Billy Bevan, Clyde Cook, Mary Forbes and G. P. Huntley, Jr.

THREE STARS SHINE TODAY AT COLISEUM
Three top-ranking stars from the Warner Bros. studios appear in the romantic adventure film which opens today at the ................ theatre—Kay Francis, Errol Flynn and Jan Hunter.
‘“Another Dawn’? is the picture —and the story is about a small British garrison in wild and picturesque Iraq (Arabia).
Flynn and Hunter both love Miss Francis. One or the other has to sacrifice his life—and leave Kay to the survivor—in order that the garrison might not fall prey to the blood-thirsty Arabs who
‘surround it.
One of them does. How they decide which one it shall be—how the hero goes forth to glory—and how the remaining one fares with the girl—all these things make up what is said to be one of 1937’s tensest and most gripping. movies.
Besides the members of the triangle, ‘‘ Another Dawn’? has such players as Frieda Inescort, Herbert Mundin, G. P. Huntley, Jr., Mary Forbes and Eily Malyon.
It was directed by William Dieterle.

orgettable love when you see Kay Francis and the screen’s newest romantic team, try to put a lifetime of nother Dawn,’’ a Warner Bros. hit
ever returning. And there are just two men who know how to pilot a plane.
That’s the climactic situation in ‘Another Dawn,’’ the romantic adventure story filmed by Warner Bros. which had its local premiere yesterday at the ................ Theatre.
One of the men is that handsome Irish star, Errol Flynn. He’s a junior officer and pal of the Colonel of the outfit. Also, he’s in love with the Colonel’s wife, who is the lovely Kay Francis. And the Colonel is that strikingly goodlooking Englishman who used to be the matinee idol of London— Ian Hunter. He loves both his wife and his junior—but he has no idea that they love each other.
Who flies the plane and destroys the dam and saves the garrison?
You won’t be told here! The working out of the problem is what makes ‘‘Another Dawn’’ an extremely unusual and gripping photoplay.
There’s a rather tragic coincidence in the background of this movie. It was made from an original story by the ace scenarist of the Warner staff, Laird Doyle. He was an airplane enthusiast; had his own ship; used to fly every evening after he was through at the studio.
Just as the picture ‘‘ went into work,’’ as they say, he went up one evening, crashed from 300 feet —only a couple of miles away from his desk—and of course was killed instantly.
William Dieterle, who directed such outstanding pictures as ‘‘ The Story of Louis Pasteur’? and ‘“The White Angel,’’ was the director of this one.
Besides the three stars, it has in its cast such outstanding performers as Frieda Inescort, Herbert Mundin, G. P. Huntley, Jr., Mary Forbes, Eily Malyon, Billy Bevan and David Clyde.
Rarely do you find such a colorful picture as ‘‘ Another Dawn,’’ with its wild scenery, its barbarous Arabs and its gallant Britons. It shouldn’t be missed.
CAVIAR FOR BREAKFAST?
Lili Damita’s ideas lean somewhat to the extravagent side when it comes to putting in supplies for a vacation in an automobile trailer.
When the decorative French actress and her husband, Errol Flynn, decided to spend a couple of weeks on the Klamath river in northern California fishing for salmon, the Warner Bros. star sent Miss Damita to do the shopping for food supplies.
‘“Get a fairly large stock of canned goods,’’ he suggested, ‘‘ because we won’t want to spend too much of our time preparing meals.’’
The day they started on their trip, Flynn belatedly inspected the food supply.
The ‘‘canned goods’’ consisted of a dozen tins of pate de fois gras and an equal amount of caviar.
The Irish actor-adventurer, now starring opposite Key Francis in ‘* Another Dawn,’’ at the .............. ‘Theatre, went to the grocery store and bought two cases of pork and beans.
STARS: NAMES ARE SWINDLE BAIT FOR NEWEST RACKETS
Hollywood is full of racketeers” who profit handsomely on their ~ knowledge of the affairs of stars.
One prominent male star lost $400 to a confidence man in Chicago not long ago because the latter happened to know the actor’s brother was in the Windy City.
The con man long-distanced the star that his brother had been injured in an automobile accident and told him to wire $400 immediately. In his agitation the actor neglected to check up on the telephone call and sent the money. Later he telephoned the hospital and discovered his brother had never been a patient.
Hollywood’s newest racket consists of selling at exhorbitant prices articles supposed to have been made by the stars.

On the set of her current Warner Bros. picture, the romanticadventure drama, “Another Dawn,” in which she and Errol Flynn are co-starred, and is now playing at the ow... Theatre, Miss Francis spent her time between scenes knitting dog sweaters for her friends’ pets.
Recently Miss Francis received a jubilantly-worded letter from &@ woman in Santa Monica stating that she had purchased one of the star’s dog sweaters in the beach city. The price she paid was $25, she wrote.
The actress declared she had positive knowledge that none of the sweaters she knitted had strayed into commercial channels,
