WOMEN’S PAGE PUBLICITY for “DAUGHTERS COURAGEOUS” Rosemary and Priscilla Lane have charming ‘homey home in Hollywood Sister stars share rambling white brick ‘English farmhouse’ One of the most charming and homey homes in Hollywood is that of Rosemary and Priscilla Lane. With their mother, Mrs. Cora B. Lane, the lovely Warner Bros. stars, individually or together, of ‘Pour Daughters,’’ ‘‘ Yes, My Darling Daughter’’ and other films — the latest of which, ‘‘ Daughters Courageous,’’ opens next Friday at the Strand Theatre — reside in a rambling white brick and stucco English farmhouse set well back from the street. No welcome mat is needed, for the house fairly radiates hospitality and good cheer. At the curb one’s attention is first attracted to the mail box, which is a scale model of the house, complete even to brick chimney. The living room was designed for comfort and livableness. Attractively long in size, it has windows along the front of the house and French doors on each side of the fireplace. Several brackets containing growing philodendron are on the walls, and large bowls of flowers further add to the cheer of the room. There is a small eottage piano at one end of the room and built-in bookcases line the other end. Over the fireplace hangs a beautiful marine painting. Comfort and charm characterize the furniture. The davenport is of tan and gold tweed. At one side of the fireplace is a love seat and on the other are two large chairs upholstered in pale yellow homespun. Cobbler’s bench, coffee tables and end tables are of maple, and in a cozy corner a large chair and ottoman upholstered in rose-colored homespun inspires lingering. Rosemary and Priscilla’s bedroom would bring gasps of admiration from girls of all ages. It is large and square and with many windows, with a white-beamed ceiling and walls papered in soft blue. The twin beds which are covered with white candlewick spreads, are of maple, as are the desk, chairs and tables. Three white lamps, two lined in white and one in soft pink, light the room. The drapery fabric is silvery white chintz with a design of large rose-colored Mat 303—45c AT HOME WITH THE LANES — (Upper left) Rosemary and Priscilla relax in their many-windowed bedroom. The room is paneled in red cedar and carpeted with grey green broadloom. There is a window seat upholstered in red leather and several large red leather chairs to match. One side of the room and half of another have built-in bookcases. A red brick fireplace, in which Swedish brass fixtures are used, covers another wall. Drapes of brown, yellow and green complete the colorful touches in the room. The kitchen, which is in yellow and blue tile, is a joy to all domestically inclined. Here Rosemary and Priscilla have all the latest appliances to work with when they feel the urge to do some culinary experimental work on cook’s day off. Priscilla Lane takes the sun in two-piece striped cotton bathing suit with square cut bodice and tiny puffed sleeves. She wears the costume in "Daughters Courageous," now at the Strand Theatre. Gale Page’s Beauty Tips For Brunettes Among the black-haired girls two have recently made a once blond-crazy Hollywood brunetteconscious is vivacious Gale Page. In “Daughters Courageous,’ the Warner Bros. picture opening next Friday at the Strand Theatre, she again plays sister to the three Lane girls. It is that cameo look about brunettes in general and Gale in particular that most fascinates. She keeps her facial contours clean-cut by olive oil massage and appleations of iced astringent. In her make-up, she emphasizes her eyes for she considers them her best feature. Long, almost straight eyebrows are groomed with tiny brushes, and slightly lengthened with an eyebrow pencil. She finds mauve eye-shadow most becoming, and uses it sparingly but skillfully. She brushes her eyelashes with warmed castor oil at night. Hollywood Hints On Perfume Rosemary Lanz upholds the honor of having Hollywood’s most fragrant name by being the town’s authority on ways to use fine scent. She never puts perfume on her hair, but she likes a spicy aroma to permeate it, so she anoints the back of her ears, neck, part and temples with a lovely oldfashioned cologne. Since so many perfumes lose value when put on fabric, Rosemary is partial to jewelry gadgetry which holds the fragrance for hours. In her latest Warner Bros. picture, “Daughters Courageous,’ she wears one of her own little lockets which holds a tiny perfume sponge. The fashions each season present new perfume thoughts to Rosemary. This year she sprays the floral array on her various hats with the proper scent.
