He joined the circus when, nine years old and toured the country with Ringling Brothers as the youngest of “The Five Marvel Ashtons”, One of the marvelous A shtons dropped him ina tumbling act, when 15, which broke his leg end ended his circus career. He joined the Saint Paul base ball club and later be : came a member of the New York Yankees. He has his own team in Los Angeles, which is considered one of the star amateur nines. Deciding to become a comedian, Joe went into burlesque. He made so great a hit that he was snatched up by Broadway producers. Same nf hie successes were “Listen Lester’, “Jim Jam Jems’, “Captain Jinks”: and “Twinkle Twinkle’. It was while playing in the latter in Los Angeles that he was induced to try his hand at pictures. Add the eggs which have been well beaten. Gradually stir in the milk, and when thoroughly mixed, sift in the flour and baking powder. Finally add the ground nutmeg and vanilla.
