Toy Trains Again ™ Joneses” interested with a
Probably no single stunt has brought more money to picture box offices than the toy railroad train. It always gets the coin. Recently the stunt has been dormant, along with a host of other good ideas, but Warners’ ‘Four Is a Crowd’ makes’ immortant use of toy trains in the picure and this gives an opening to #uild up on the idea for lobby or
indow use or both. No exhibitor
ill be doing his full duty by himself if he passes over the idea.
Warner studio flacks recently worked a preview of the layout used at the Burbank studio, with about 125 newspaper writers attending. They were permitted to operate the trains over nearly a mile of O gauge track and a fine time was had by all. Several smaller layouts were temporarily put in for the visitors to play with, and souvenirs were engineers’ caps, toys signal lanterns and toy trains.
If space permits, it would be a good idea to contact a toy store and set up a layout in the mezzanine foyer or rest room for even two or three weeks before the picture comes along. Run a table the full length of the room and use all the trackage and accessories you can borrow.
race for home-made model trains. Tracks on which model trains race are promoted from local Lionel dealer or from participants in contest. The trains would have to race individually against time, of course, since it would searcely be possible to get enough trackage and find a place large enough to have all the entrants start at once. Award prizes to owners of winning models. Spectators can be divided into cheering sections to root for their favorites.

How To Play Trains And Have Fun
Run a ‘‘Lucky Number Contest” in conjunction
with your local Lionel Train display in lobby. Idea is to place small cards with numbers at various intervals along the track. Patrons draw corresponding numbers from large box. Train is then started and stopped by patron participating in the contest. Number nearest point where front of train stops is the winning number. This procedure is repeated again and again. Patrons holding winning numbers receive
prizes promoted from local dealer and guest tickets.
