BE SURE TO STAGE THIS GIRL MISSING STREET BALLY STUNT
Here is a unique stunt which will take in newspaper tie-up, cooperation of local photographer, and the guaranteed interest of every person in town. Employ an attractive blonde, dressed stylishly, her face veiled in a way
which but indistinctly reveals her features.
Promote the interest of a
prominent photographer to accompany the young lady about town. If thought better, the newspaper may send a photographer, or you may hire one yourself.
The “girl missing” goes through the streets, picking out persons to whom she presents guest tickets to the picture, first saying: ‘‘I beg your pardon... but you may have heard of me. I’m the Girl Missing. I must hurry on now, but
I want to see you at the Strand .........
ee: evening as my guest. Here are
two complimentary tickets! Good bye and good luck!’’ e When the astonished recipient of the tickets does not object, the photographer snaps his or her picture with the girl handing out the tickets. The value of the idea is much augmented when the girl and photographer make it a point to pick out unusual surroundings and characters for use. For instance, it would make a ripping good picture and story if the two climb up a ladder on the steel structure of a building just being erected, to
present the tickets to an iron-worker.
The story mentions the evident bravery
of the mysterious ‘girl missing,’ since she had the temerity to climb to the height to get the tickets into the hands of the person she had chosen. Pictures may be taken and tickets presented to many classes of townspeople—the Tall Story Teller, in his favorite tobacco shop—a locally noted boxer in his training place—a cop noted for his bravery, or a fireman—a
society girl riding her pet horse—the Mayor at City Hall—a favorite school teacher in her class-room—a pretty high school girl on her way home from
class—these and countless other picturesque characters may be located. Each day for a period of a week preceding the coming of “Girl Missing,” twenty pairs of tickets are given out. Each day one picture is published—the most interesting—with a little story about the recipient of the gift, and with data
about the coming film.
Story may be used featuring the girl herself, and
suggesting the mystery that surrounds her, and guesses as to her identity.

CO-OP MERCHANTS’ AD AND WINDOW DISPLAYS ON MISSING LETTERS CONTEST
A stunt that brought excellent results when used by one of the largest
merchandising stores in New York City is this missing letters contest, which
attracted the attention of hundreds of passers-by daily. Here’s how to work
it so that it brings your theatre advantageous window displays and a c¢o
operative merchants’ ad:
Tie up with as many merchants in your town as possible and have each
of them display in his window several large-sized cards carrying advertising
copy and eatchlines on the picture.
Each one of these cards should contain
about two or three words with missing letters, the idea being for the people
to eateh the missing letters.
The first twenty-five who send in a complete list of the missing letters, taken from the display cards in all the co-operating stores, are to receive passes for the opening
performance of “Girl Missing.” Also,
have the stores display plenty of stills taken from the picture.
Following is a sample window card, with copy carrying misspelled
words:
SNACHED FROM HER BRIDAL BED!
The most thriling weding night any woman ever lived through! Learn the why and how of the vanished bride and the chorus girl who turned sleuth?

Missing Person’s
Bureau
if your local town has a MISSING PERSON’S BUREAU contact the head of it for a series of stories on actual experiences in locating missing persons. Your local paper should be tied into this stunt as a series of this type will have great reader appeal. The head of your local Travelers’ Aid Society should be enlisted in connection with this idea to talk about the most unusual experiences in tracing missing persons. The stunt should be used in the newspaper in advance of your opening date of “GIRL MISSING.”
Blow-ups for Lobby Display
Take advantage of the recent
“newspaper headlines dealing with
“kidnaped girls” by having copies of them arranged for a special lobby frame display. It’s a timely stunt and bound to attract a great deal of attention and comment on the feature. For copy to go with this display, see the herald in “Girl Missing,” which plays up this angle in
an intriguing manner.
