Zachary Scott is one of a trio of bright newcomers starred in Warners’ "Her Kind Of Man," currently at the Strand. Janis Paige and Dane Clark complete
the threesome.
Takes First Step In Fulfillment Of Dream
Janis Paige recently took a physical examination as the first step toward flying lessons.
The Warner star currently in that studio’s “Her Kind Of Man” at the Strand, plans to satisfy a lifelong dream in the very near future. She has always been interested in flying and has already completed ground courses in theory of flight, aerodynamics and aerial navigation.
She hopes to get enough time in the air to solo before beginning work on her next film, which will follow shortly on the heels of her current film in which she is co-starred with Zachary Scott and Dane Clark.
Film Fisticuffs Popular Even In Peace-Loving Age
The war is over every place but in Hollywood!
While the battered world settles down to peace, screen stars are still slugging it out in front of the cameras. In spite of the war’s end, movie battles continue according to schedule and according to script.
Bloody brawls with no holds barred are constantly being filmed in the picture capital. The screen’s newest villain, Zachary Scott, whips a nasty back-handed slap to Harry Lewis’ mouth just because he’s talked too much in an early scene of Warners’ Her Kind Of Man,” eurrently at the Strand. But it’s only an indication of what comes later.
Scott and his romantic rival, Dane Clark, strip to the waist later and fight out a grudge. Even the softening effect of boxing gloves is missing. The stars fight with bare fists. For safety’s sake director Frederick de Cordova scheduled the scene for the last day of filming. Scott and Clark are known for their habit of living their roles and pulling no punches.
Faye Emerson Gets Around With Ease Just By Dreaming
As dreamers go, Faye Emerson tops them all for pure fantasy.
During the production of Warner Bros.’ new drama, “‘Her Kind Of Man,” currently at the Strand, Faye was dozing in her dressing room as, outside on a sound stage, Janis Paige was singing “Body and Soul’ before the cameras for a production number.
The song subconsciously entered Faye’s dream world and became a lavish oriental musical comedy number with the torch song crooned by China’s first lady, Madame Chiang Kai Chek.
“Tt could Mat 103 — 15c hanpen = ihe Faye Emerson actress remarked on awakening, “Madame Chiang Kai Chek is an accomplished woman.”
Besides Janis Paige, the film also stars Zachary Scott and Dane Clark. .
Screen Heel Plays Devoted Father To Offstage Offspring
Zachary Scott, movies’ newest menace-man, is up to his particular type of suave villiany again.
The Warner Bros.’ star is currently co-starring with Janis Paige and Dane Clark in Warners’ “Her Kind Of Man,” at the Strand. Scott is a small time gambler with big time ambitions and enough (ill) will to get what he wants.
After an “anfortunate incident” in Chicago, Scott decides he needs a long vacation in Florida. The scene is the veranda of Scott’s Florida beach house. It fronts right on the sand with palm trees waving lazily in the ocean breeze while suntanned beach addicts stroll along the white sand.

Reads of Janis Paige
Scott is sitting in a beach chair reading aloud a _ newspaper account about the success of his girl friend, Janis Paige, as a nightclub singer in New York.
George Tobias, in the role of Scott’s brother-in-law, suggests that Scott hasn’t had any sashweights tied to him either while he’s been letting the cops cool off in Chicago. After all — running four G’s up to fifty-five on the races is not bad.
Scott freezes. He turns slowly to Tobias and asks him where he got that information.
Tobias nonchalantly continues his solitaire game and replies that word gets ese Bete Aw ws Mat 104 — 15c fact, Scott’s Ae ee babyfaced henchman, Harry Lewis, told him the exact figures.
Scott uncoils from his chair, walks slowly over to Harry, who is munching a piece of candy. His eyes narrow down to slits as he grimly tells the baby-faced bodyguard he talks too much.
Smiles and Explains
Harry smiles at his boss and explains that he didn’t think Scott would get sore, after all it was a lot of winnings and he thought it should be noised arou
Scott’s hand whips out like a snake and lashes across Harry’s face. Harry stands completely stunned from surprise and the force of the blow. In a low, menacing tone Scott adds that that7ll stitch up his mouth. And the next time he opens it for anything but candy, he’ll slap the taste out!
It was at that point, during the picture’s filming, that director Frederick de Cordova yelled “Cut,” and the scene ended.
Then Scott walked mildly off the set and hurried to the telephone to try to locate a pair of ice skates small enough for his nine year old daughter, Waverley.
