ADVERTISING ANALYSIS
READ THIS BEFORE STARTING YOUR CAMPAIGN!
1 William Powell is a definitely established box office star. * His name is the outstanding sales angle of the picture. Bill him big!
me His last few pictures have shown Powell in the same * type of roles. In ‘‘High Pressure,’’ however, he is absolutely different, a fast-moving, fast-talking, fast-living son-of-a-gun if ever there was one. It’s a new Powell!
Get that fact over in your ads!
3 Do not play up the stock market angle of the picture,
* too many people are still nursing the sores left by ‘‘dat
debil Wall St.”’ ‘“‘High Pressure’? is an ultra-modern comedy romance and should be sold as such.
4 The team of Powell and Evelyn Brent was highly success
* ful in “‘Interference,’’ an earlier talking picture. In
towns where Miss Brent has a wide following, it may be advisable to play her up.
5 The supporting cast is a very strong one. Names such * as George Sidney, Evalyn Knapp, Frank McHugh, John Wray and Guy Kibbee should be featured in your lobbies
and ads.
& Remember, Powell is a son-of-a-gun in a son-of-a-gun ° of a picture!

The Story of “High Pressure”
Gar Evans, whirlwind blue sky stock promoter—who, between bad ventures, devotes himself to having a good time—is sleeping off the effects of his last debauch, when Mike Donoghey, his right hand man, brings in Colonel Ginsberg, a new financial angel, who has bought an invention which purports to convert sewage into rubber.
Evans, wildly enthusiastic, rents a floor of a Fifth Avenue skyscraper, furnishes it gorgeously, and installs as reception clerk, Francine, whom he once promised to wed. He then hires as secretary the unworldly Helen, of whom Francine is madly jealous. Ginsberg gloats as the cash rolls in, but trouble is in the offing.
Legal proceedings are threatened by a rival rubber company and the “inventor” turns out to be a lunatic. When things look darkest the enemy firm offers to buy them out, but Francine has eloped with a South American millionaire and takes with her 51% of the shares of the company. Evans follows her to the wharf, explains his attentions to Helen, and brings her back to the office, with a promise to marry her and settle down to a safe and sane business.
Donoghey rushes in with an Alaskan, who has another get-rich-quick idea—and Evans is again in the clouds. Francine, realizing it is in her man’s blood, smiles, sighs, and thanks her stars she is back with him again.
