CUES CAMPAIGN
FEMME BUSINESS!
I. Contest Insert For ‘Journal’ Readers
Arrange with local “Journal” distributor for contest worked this way: Starting two weeks in advance of playdate, contest blank is inserted in all current copies of Ladies Home Journal. Davis article is reprinted and guest tickets are offered for best letters, both for those that agree with Miss Davis—and for those that disagree. Contest blank also carries full playdate credits. Follow through with newsstand tack cards, truck posters and possibly a newspaper ad plugging contest and picture. If magazine tie-up can’t be worked out, blow up article from April issue and stage it as a lobby contest.
2s Hiidlio and
Newspaper Discussion
To get ’em talking about your playdate—start a discussion. You can do this by having Woman’s Page editor, femme radio commentators and local career women, through newspaper or radio interviews, discuss Miss Davis’ views on modern marriage. Whether or not they agree with Bette Davis—the talk should create interest in your showing. Another angle on this is to have the local newspaper or radio Inguiring Reporter query both men and women in theatre lobby on Bette’s article.
